Volunteers required for diet trial!

Let me ask you a few questions.

Have you tried all the diets under the sun and nothing seems to work?
Are you fed up of not being able to fit into a favourite item of clothing?
Do you have health issues that don’t seem to clear up no matter what you do?

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then I have a unique opportunity for you.

I am in the first stages of setting up an exciting new weight loss programme called Zest4Life. Zest4life is unique and very different weight loss programme that uses a step-by-step approach to help you lose weight, gain more energy, boost your health and finally let go of dieting.

It is a powerful group programme where you are taken through a health and wellness journey with a qualified nutritional therapist (me!) who will help you rejuvenate your body and your life. This is what sets Zest4life apart from all the rest which are just run by people who have been through the programme. You will come away inspired and empowered to make real lasting changes.

So what is so different about Zest4life compared to other weight loss programmes?
The programme has been thoroughly researched, tried and tested and the person behind it is none other than Patrick Holford, Britain’s leading nutritional expert. Patrick has written over 30 books on health and wellness and he is the founder of the Optimum Nutrition Institute and The Brain Bio Centre.

Where Zest4life is concerned the statistics speak for themselves; of those who have followed the programme reported greater energy, better moods, healthier skin and of course the shedding of excess pounds. It is possible to lose up to 2 stone in 12 weeks! Not convinced? How about these health results?

80% reduced their blood pressure
60% reduced cholesterol
70% improved health and blood sugar
90% decreased stress and
100% lost weight

This programme works! And the best thing? No calorie counting, depravation or guilt!

The Opportunity

I am looking for four volunteers who are interested in losing weight and regaining their health and vitality. You will be following Patrick’s low GL weight loss programme and will receive motivational weight loss coaching and nutritional expertise.

In order to qualify for the case study you will need to:

- Have a minimum of 10lbs excess weight to lose
- Have a keen interest in improving nutrition to benefit your health
- Experienced significantly reduced energy levels for at least one year
- Tried several diets before and re-gained some or all of the weight you have lost
- Have experienced cravings and/ or sometimes felt the need to comfort eat
- Be prepared to commit to attending a 6 week programme consisting of one initial face-to-face - - 75 minutes session followed by 4 x 30 minute telephone sessions and one final 30 minute face-to-face session.
- Provide feedback and give your permission for your results to be used as part of a national research project on weight loss and motivation.

How to Get a Handle on Anaemia

Anaemia is when there are a reduced number of red blood cells or haemoglobin in the blood.
As a result, there is a reduced amount of oxygen available to the cells of the body. This means that with less oxygen, the body cannot carry out its normal everyday functions i.e. breaking down and re-building muscle. A person with anaemia might also feel dizzy or lightheaded due to the reduced amount of oxygen to the brain. Tiredness is also a symptom.

Anaemia comes about as a result of anything that causes a reduction in the production of red blood cells. This can include vitamin and mineral deficiencies or improper absorption, thyroid disorders, inflammation, infections or other illnesses and heavy menstrual bleeding. Anaemia can cause heavy periods; but the trouble is, heavy period's leads to anaemia. It's a vicious cycle. Anaemia can also be hereditary. Other symptoms to look out for are headaches, irritability and difficulties concentrating. Because anaemia can go unnoticed, it is only really diagnosed via a routine health screen.

So what causes it? In a nutshell, a lack of iron in the blood. A basic check to see if you might have anaemia is to look inside the lower part of your eye lids, the part known as eye bags! The colour should be heavy pink to red. If it is pale, there is a chance you might be iron deficient. To confirm this, get a check up from your GP.

The great thing about anaemia is that it is easy to rectify as most of the time, it is mainly due to nutrient intake or absorption problems. The best and easiest way to increase iron intake is through what you eat. Prescription iron supplements can cause constipation and because the iron contained within them is inorganic (artificial), it just passes straight through the body. Our bodies only recognise what is natural, which is why it is so important to feed ourselves with nutrient dense, unadulterated food and drink.

The following foods and herbs are high in iron:

Nettle. Nettle also contains vitamin C which aids iron absorption. It is best taken as a herbal tea. Dandelion (available as tea and substitute 'coffee'), raisins, apricots, legumes and pulses, peas, bananas, okra, prunes, whole grains and green leafy vegetables (i.e. kale) are also good sources.

Before supplementing, get a blood test first. If tests show you are seriously anaemic, then a liquid supplement for the short term (3-6 months) would be an excellent choice. The aim here is to get most of your nutrients from high quality nutrient dense foods and become less reliant on supplements. For vegetarians and particularly vegans, it is also important to supplement with vitamin B12 to prevent another form of anaemia known as pernicious anaemia, which carries a greater neurological risk.

Highly refined foods, carbonated drinks, alcohol and tea and coffee are bested avoided as they rob the body of nutrients.

Eat a diet rich in vitamins and minerals and you will find that your condition will take care of itself.

Most entrepreneurs and solopreneurs that I work with have a dream of incorporating a health and fitness program into their lives so that they can enjoy a fabulous life style. However, this dream can cost them a bundle if they are too busy to stop and work out.

There are several simple and overlooked ways that not only can improve your health and make your dream a reality. Here's the good news: I am going to reveal to you, how you can start a health and fitness program which will change your life style even if you have never done it before.

Health and fitness are partners in living a happy and fulfilling life.

It is nearly impossible to enjoy your life to the fullest without being healthy. Part of being healthy is being physically fit.

Your quality of life will decrease if you are obese, abusing drugs or alcohol, or not getting the rest your body needs.

We want the best quality of life that is possible. A good health and a fitness program will help us have that.

-1: What is the most overlooked key to health and fitness?

One of the most important and most overlooked keys to good health is starting your day with breakfast. Your body has gone without food for the night as you slept. You need to fill up your tank before you start the day.

This has several benefits; the most important being it jump-starts your metabolism and helps you burn fat.

-2: Here are some good choices for breakfast...

Good choices for breakfast include whole grain cereals, yogurt and fruit, and whole grain toast with peanut butter. You will notice that foods with refined sugars are not included in what is considered a healthy breakfast!

3#: How can you make physical activity a part of your day?

Stay active during your day. You can make time for physical activity even if you are holding down a job or spending six hours in class. Try to get in at least 30 minutes of exercise each day.

-5: OK, let's look at some simple ways to stay active.

There are simple ways to get in physical activities. Use stairs instead of an elevator and park farther out in the parking lot and walk those few extra steps. Take a break every hour when you get up and get your body moving.

Now that you understand there is not only hope but a define course of action you can take to start your dream of a health and fitness program and move beyond any question or concerns once and for all. Just imagine how much more energy, clarity and fun you can have in life.

Now I would suggest you get started by taking action on one of the suggestions I outlined in heart of the article.

Weight loss surgery patients are instructed to eat a diet of rich lean protein cooked without frying or breading. Grilled fish fits that order with ease! And by all accounts fish is good for us. In fact, the American Heart Association tells us to eat fish twice a week, particularly cold water fatty fish. Fatty fish including mackerel, lake trout, herring, sardines, albacore tuna, salmon, and some shellfish are high in two kinds of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are believed to help lower triglycerides and may also fight cancer and reduce inflammation. Additionally fish is rich in B vitamins including B12, Niacin, and B6. It is readily available fresh at the meat counter or flash-frozen in the freezer section of most major supermarkets.

Warm summer months are ideal for including fish in the healthy weight loss surgery diet because it can quickly be grilled over medium-direct heat on a gas or charcoal grill. Fish cooks quickly and should be tended closely to avoid overcooking. Fish is done when it turns opaque in the thickest portion and flakes into sections. Scallops, a shellfish, are done when they are opaque and another shellfish, shrimp, are done when they turn pink. When cooking over the direct heat of the grill turn steaks, whole fish, shrimp and scallops halfway through grilling time. Avoid moving the fish protein too much on the grill because it tends to break-up. Thin fillets generally do not need to be turned. Some frequent fish grillers find baskets made specifically to hold fish on the grill are useful.

Try this simple flavorful recipe for grilled fish and I think you will be hooked!

Mediterranean Sea Bass

This Provence-style recipe infuses the clean flavor of olive oil with fresh herbs and garlic for a light and flavorful lean protein main dish. Keep it simple and enjoy. (Suitable fish substitutes: red snapper, striped bass, halibut.)

For the paste:

3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh thyme
2 teaspoons dried lavender
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 skinless Chilean sea bass fillets, about 6 ounces each and 1 inch thick

Lemon wedges (optional)

To make the paste: In a small bowl whisk together the paste ingredients.

Spread the paste evenly on both sides of the fish fillets. Grill over Direct High heat until the flesh is opaque throughout and starting to flake, 5 to 7 minutes, turning once halfway through grilling time. Serve warm and garnish with lemon wedges, if desired.

When one is looking for an asthma cure for themselves or their children all natural asthma cures take center stage. Many home asthma remedies are easier to obtain and can work better than asthma medications from the pharmacy. Many asthma cures have been developed and tested over generations and have proven results.

The easiest cure for anyone's asthma may be something as simple as a change in diet. Foods high in saturated fat can have an effect on ones ability to control their asthma and may increase the chances of an asthma attack.

A low fat diet consisting of lean meats like chicken, turkey and lean cuts of most grass fed animal may decrease or even eliminate the any asthma related symptoms. Some cuts of pork can be acceptable to eat with in reason but an increased amount at the dinner table may be the defining factor between being able to breathe or rushing for the inhaler.

Eating fruit meals for breakfast and dinner such as fresh apple juice and banana blended together isn't just a healthy fad. Combining sweet fruits like melon, grapes and figs as meals are beginning to replace the average breakfast and dinners for many asthma sufferers. The vitamins you receive from fruit meals are what keeps you body energized and helps to produce an immune system that reacts to appropriate dangers like viruses instead of every possible "intrusive" allergen which may trigger an asthma attack.

Another simple technique is regularly dusting your home. Dust can contain thousands of mites, bacteria and simply put... it's dirt. Dust can definitely get into the air that you breathe causing a restriction in the chest by triggering your immune system to produce mucus to protect the lungs from the "perceived" danger.

Getting fresh air or just sitting in the sun for a short amount of time is another great way to cure your asthma. If you live in a large city it may feel like it's impossible to get any kind of clean air but a trip to the country may do wonders not only for the treatment of asthma but for your overall well being.

Asthma's main cause is simply an over reactive immune system that you can control if you know what asthma cures are available to you. The benefits of staying healthy with an optimal weight way heavily on most asthma patients minds and with a few simple changes you will be able to control your asthma ailments.

There are many more things to find out about asthma. Read about them in http://asthma-relief-strategies.blogspot.com. There you will also find a complete program which will enable you to get rid of your asthma for good and live a normal life in just a matter of months.

The media is chock filled with guys and gals with dazzling smiles. Their gleaming white teeth may appear unearthly and oddly reminiscent of a "decorators white" paint job. There is no need to be jealous the next time you see the pearly whites of your favorite star as with a little bit of spare cash, the help of well-skilled dentist and a small tolerance for pain, you too can be fabulous!

Professional tooth whitening has becoming increasingly popular. The American Dental Association recently conducted a survey that showed that most of the respondents ranked their smile as their top physical feature. An engaging smile not only ensures a positive first impression, but also can also be worth its weight in gold (or even gold fillings)!

The process of teeth whitening has become more advanced over the years and typically the procedure involves a dentist applying the right amount of tooth whitening agent and light pulse technology. Patients should follow some important steps to get the most out of the treatment:

  • Patients need to get their teeth professionally cleaned and examined prior to starting the tooth bleaching process.
  • After a cleaning and determining any additional dental care that may be required the bleaching can commence
  • The treatment combines chemical components with laser light pulses. There are many brand name procedures offered by dental care professionals. Regardless of what it is called, those who want their brightest smile need the combo of the two for the best results.
  • The entire whitening procedure takes about an hour or two. During that time, a patient will undergo a minimum of two rounds of the chemical and light treatment.
  • A skilled dentist will only proceed to the third and final light blast after a patient indicates they can tolerate the procedure.
  • It is this final combo blast that can make the teeth feel incredibly sensitive and painful for up to 48 hours.
  • After the whitening process, your dentist will advise you to avoid foods and beverages that may stain your teeth (I.E. red wine, coffee, tomato based sauces).
  • You should also foods that are extremely hot or cold as your mouth will be sensitive.
  • Sometimes bonding, fillings and other procedures are required to ensure a mouth is in tiptop shape. It is important to get all the work done after your bleaching treatment so your dentist can match the color of whatever you need to your newly brightened enamel.
Yes, there is some pain involved with the tooth bleaching procedure. However, once a couple of days have passed, you will be grateful for the results and be back to normal.

Before even beginning the process, candidates should price the procedure to ensure that they can afford the cosmetic dentistry. Consumers should feel free to try to negotiate a deal with your dentist who may offer a lower price for cash payments or may even offer you financing deal. If that is not a realistic option, the treatment can be made more affordable is by purchasing an affordable dental plan that also discounts cosmetic surgeries. Or you can simply try to negotiate a deal with your dentist who may offer a lower price for cash payments or may even offer you financing deal.

Hyperactive ADHD is a problem with self regulation, specifically the inability to control ones physical movements. Some would argue that hyperactive ADHD is by far the hardest type of ADHD to manage and treat, and may do more to interfere with an individual's ability to succeed academically, socially, and personally than any other type.

When a child, adolescent, teen, or adult is impacted by hyperactive ADHD they most likely will not be able to sit still for any length of time at all, and are particular challenged in settings that require them to be quite and in control of their physical and mental actions. The most obvious example is the classroom where being quite and sitting still are not only expected but required.

As a child moves into adulthood his/her symptoms may start to moderate, and be observed as a state of restlessness rather than the full blow hyperactivity we may have grown to expect. Restlessness is much subtler and may be internalized rather than acted out externally.

The internalization of hyperactive ADHD has lead some experts to suggest that adults may outgrow their hyperactivity. Recent research seems to be suggest otherwise, telling us that adults tend to grow into their restlessness rather than out of it. There may also be an element of adaptation involved as well where the hyperactive ADHD individual has become a master at disguising some of their most troubling symptoms.

Clues For Recognizing Hyperactive ADHD in Children and Adults

*Not being able to sit still for any length of time.

*Releasing their hyperactive behavior by talking nonstop.

*Being continually on the go, to a point where it is obvious that they may be slightly different than their peers.

*A propensity to go blank when challenged academically, such as during tests.

*Performs poorly when placed under pressure.

*A tendency to take over conversations, talk loud, and in general be seen as self-centered or obnoxious.

*Always being on edge, seemingly only one step away from exploding into a fit of temper or rage.

*Over critical of others to a point of almost being ridiculous.

*Can dish out the criticisms or negative critiques, but can't take it in return.

*Constantly on the prowl, searching for stimulation, thrills, and excitement.

*Often initiate altercations or start arguments.

*May worry constantly, having a bad case of the what ifs.

*Fretting over even the most minor set of negative circumstances is not uncommon.

*May constantly doodle and squirm when asked to stay seated.

*Mental focus and clarity may be tied to their ability to move around.

In conclusion hyperactive ADHD is perhaps the most easily recognizable and arguably the most problematic of all the different types of attention deficit hyperactivity disorders.

The potential for future drug abuse is also another major concern. This has prompting many parents of hyperactive ADHD children, and adults alike, to embrace homeopathic natural remedies and/or behavior therapies instead of implementing a long term treatment plan including pharmacological treatments such as Ritalin.
